Bakkt To Acquire Apex for $200 Million and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 11/3/22

  • Cryptocurrency platform Bakkt Holdings Inc. has agreed to pay $200 million to acquire Apex Crypto LLC, a crypto-trading platform for fintechs, from Apex Fintech Solutions Inc.
  • Card manufacturer CPI Card Group Inc. said credit and debit card sales helped propel its third quarter revenue to $124.6 million, a 25.1% increase from $99.6 million in the same quarter in 2021. Net income for the quarter of $11.9 million increased 80.3% from $6.6 million in the year-ago quarter.
  • Lightspeed Commerce Inc., a specialist in payments technology for the hospitality industry, reported total revenue of $183.7 million for the quarter ended Sept. 30, up 38% year-over-year. The total includes $7.5 million from the company’s acquisition of Ecwid Inc.
  • CardFree, developer of order, payment, and loyalty technology, has launched a pay-at-table terminal in a partnership with Lazy Dog Restaurants.
  • Lux Vending LLC, which does business as Bitcoin Depot, announced it has taken a majority interest in rival Bitcoin ATM operator Bitaccess Inc. Terms were not announced.
  • Mastercard Inc. said seven startup companies have joined its Start Path program that fosters advancement in digital asset, blockchain, and cryptocurrency endeavors.
  • Zilch, which issues a virtual debit card that earns ad-supported rewards, said the product has now attracted 3 million users, six months after exceeding 2 million.
