Afterpay Most Used BNPL Option by Gen Z And Other Digital Transactions News briefs from 12/15/22

  • Afterpay, the buy now, pay later service owned by Block Inc.’s Square, is the one most used by Gen Z consumers—those between 18 and 25 years old—according to a survey from Insights in Marketing, a marketing consultancy, with 58% of them having used Afterpay. Next was Klarna at 44%; Affirm 29%; PayPal, 27%; ShopPay, 19%, Zip, 17%; Quadpay, 13%; and Sezzle, 10%.
  • Prepaid card provider Paysign Inc. said it is working with EvoShare, a microsavings-oriented fintech, to allow Paysign to provide additional cash back rewards through its Paysign Pays Cashback Rewards program.
  • UATP, a payment network for airlines, announced it has assumed processing responsibility for a portion of WestJet’s business.
  • In related news, W2 by WorldTicket, a ticketing platform for airlines, said it has reached a record 97 clients globally. The company was founded in 2002.
  • Thirty-one percent of consumers surveyed by CoinZoom, a cryptocurrency exchange, feel more positive about giving and receiving gift cards this holiday season than they did prior to the pandemic. The online survey had 4,000 respondents.
  • New York City-based Payoneer Inc. said it received in-principle approval from the Monetary Authority of Singapore as a major payment institution license holder. Once received, the license will enable Payoneer to extend services such as mass payouts and card offerings.
  • Prepaid card platform Blackhawk Network said it has agreed to support sales of gift cards from furniture retailer IKEA U.S. at third-party merchants.
  • Canada-based payments provider OTT Pay has launched an integration with commerce platform Shopify Inc.
  • TurboTenant Inc., provider of software that handles rent payments and other functions for landlords, announced it has exceeded 500,000 clients. The company was founded in 2015.
  • Visa Inc. pledged to invest $1 billion over five years to help build modern economies in Africa.
