- Point-of-sale technology provider Ingenico is working with buy now, pay later specialist Splitit to offer BNPL at the physical checkout using Ingenico’s payments-platform-as-a-service technology.
- Block Inc.’s Afterpay buy now, pay later service said it will enable access for users to New York Fashion Week beginning Feb. 11 and running for four days. Afterpay is the title sponsor of the show.
- PayPal Holdings Inc. will lay off approximately 2,000 employees, or 7% of its total workers, Dan Schulman, PayPal president and chief executive, said in a publicly released email to staff.
- Garmin International Inc. launched vivomove Trend, a smart watch with a range of features, including smart-phone notifications and the Garmin Pay contactless-payment technology.
- ACI Worldwide Inc. said its technology now runs 25 real-time payments networks across six continents for central banks, fintechs, and other payments providers, embracing one-third of the countries that offer real-time transfers.
- Payments provider VizyPay announced it has updated its VizyPOS app, adding a help center ease connections between users and VizyPay’s support center. VizyPOS works with terminals from Pax Technology.
- Independent ATM operator Paramount Management Group LLC said it acquired the ATM portfolio of Amer-E-Com Digital Corp. which does business as First National ATM. Terms were not disclosed. Paramount said it manages more than 1,000 ATMs in 34 states and the District of Columbia now.
- Bank Shot, which enables disbursement of earnest money for real-estate transactions, said it has launched digital disbursements to allow title-closing personnel to send funds as digital checks.
- Strike, a U.S.-based platform that enables cross-border transfers via Bitcoin, has added the Philippines to its roster of send markets for its Send Globally service, joining Nigeria, Kenya, and Ghana. The company launched Send Globally in December.
- Visa Inc. announced a second class of 75 first-year college students to its Visa Black Scholars and Jobs Program. They receive scholarship assistance, learning opportunities, and mentorship with a Visa employee. The program launched in August 2021.
