  • A startup fintech called Engage has launched a communication channel allowing customers and merchants to interact via purchase transactions through card networks.
  • In the hotly contested hospitality point-of-sale market, Lightspeed Commerce Inc. launched the newest version of its Lightspeed Restaurant set of technologies, which is immediately available in the U.S. market.
  • Security firm Sophos said it has discovered “multiple” chatbot apps using the artificial-intelligence-based ChatGPT technology to overcharge users.

  • Fourth, a provider of earned-wage access technology, said its Fuego platform has added a tip-payout feature, allowing employees to draw on tip income electronically.
  • PayIt, a payments-technology provider for government entities, said it has agreed to acquire Sovereign Sportsman Solutions, a provider of technology for licensing, permitting, and other functions for the outdoor-recreation industry. Terms of the deal, which is expected to close by the end of the month, were not announced.
  • Payments provider Elavon said it will be the exclusive processor for transactions on Audico, a voice-activated technology developed by The Digital Line for the hospitality industry. Audico, which has been introduced at the Ascot Racecourse in the United Kingdom, relies on Amazon’s Alexa technology.
  • Former First Data and Worldpay executive Jay McCracken has been appointed senior vice president of sales at Member Access Processing, a processor for credit unions.
