Digital Dollar Project Completes Cross-Border Test And Other Digital Transactions News briefs from 8/4/23

  • The Digital Dollar Project announced benefits such as reduced cost and risk from a recent pilot of a retail central bank digital currency for cross-border transactions. The DDP ran the project in the Philippines in partnership with The Western Union Co., supported by the consulting firm Accenture.
  • Digital-currency platform Circle Internet Financial Inc. launched the Digital Financial Literacy Curriculum in the Bay Area of California, working with Junior Achievement of Northern California.
  • BitMart, a trading platform for digital assets, said it has implemented Bitcoin transactions on the Lightning Network, a move aimed at increasing transaction speed and reducing costs.
  • Green Dot Corp. said it will support money movement and other digital services for customers of PLS financial-service centers. PLS works with more than 5 million customers through more than 200 centers.
  • Web registrar and payments processor GoDaddy Inc. recorded $1.05 billion in revenue in the June quarter, up 3% year-over-year. Of that total, “applications and commerce” revenue totaled $351.7 million, up 11%. Net income overall dipped 8% to $83.1 million.
