Citizens Pay Adds Apple POS Financing Option And Other Digital Transactions News briefs from 8/18/23

  • Upgraded, a service that lets Apple MacBook buyers pay over time, announced it is launching in the United States in a partnership with Citizens Pay, a point-of-sale financing service of Citizens Bank.
  • Adyen NV, a Dutch payments platform that competes in the U.S. market against companies like Stripe, Fiserv, PayPal, and Braintree (a unit of PayPal), saw its share price plummet by one-third after an earnings miss stemming from slower sales growth and thinner margins caused by hiring costs. By early Friday, shares were trading at 875 euros, down from 1,557 at the start of the week.
  • NCR Corp. announced discrete investor day sessions set for Sept. 5 to introduce digital-commerce platform NCR Voyix and ATM company NCR Atleos. NCR this summer announced it will split into the two distinct businesses later this year.
  • Mark Smargon, chief executive of the payments-focused Ethereum blockchain operator Fuse, said his company is intended for mainstream global transactions, marking out its main competitors as companies like Visa and Stripe.
