- Bank issued credit cards were exposed to $994 million in synthetic identity fraud in the first half of 2023, up 8.4% from $917 million in the first half of 2022, said TransUnion. For retail credit cards the exposure of $126 million in 2023 was 12.5% less than $144 million in the first six months of 2022.
