Citcon USA LLC, an e-commerce wallet-technology provider, is adding Block Inc.’s Cash App Pay and Afterpay buy now, pay later payment methods to its inventory of merchant options. In related news, Block’s Square point-of-sale unit is bolstering merchant selling tools with new online features.
Citcon’s integration of Cash App Pay, which enables users to make in-store and online purchases using their Cash App accounts, and Afterpay, which Block acquired in 2022, will provide more options for merchants, Citcon says.
The integration will be available to all merchants and work with Citcon’s payment platform, which offers access to more than 150 payment methods, and other e-commerce platform plugins.
In related news, Square released a dozen features as merchants prepare for the busy fourth quarter. Among them are online themes and artificial intelligence-generated product descriptions.
Themes include a set of 19 design templates for Square Online, its e-commerce offering, enabling greater customization for a variety of business models. The AI-generated product descriptions can help retailers generate product titles and descriptions that appear across all of their sales channels at once.
“For sellers with large catalogs, this automated feature removes the manual back-end work required to describe and list each item for sale–ultimately improving operational efficiency and giving sellers time back to focus on other tasks,” Square says.
Other features include inventory tools for more easily archiving older items and enabling barcode label printing in Square for Retail. Updated fulfillment options are available, such as automatically calculating taxes based on order shipping destinations.
New marketing features include the addition of House Accounts, a deferred payment option for regular customers that can be settled with a credit card, ACH payment, or card on file. Images can now be included in marketing text messages sent via Square, too.
