PayRange Battles Alleged Patent Misuse And Other Digital Transactions News briefs from 3/6/24

  • Unattended payments specialist PayRange Inc. said it filed a patent infringement lawsuit against CSC ServiceWorks, an operator of laundry machines in multi-family housing and college dorms. This is in addition to a previous patent infringement suit it filed in March 2023 against CSC ServiceWorks. In the new suit, PayRange seeks more than $108 million in damages and a permanent injunction barring further infringement.
  • Alviere, a platform for embedded finance, announced it will enable its merchant clients to offer their own rewards on co-branded debit cards they issue on the platform.
  • Health-care payments platform TrustCommerce said it will add PayPal and Venmo to its U.S. operation as payments options. Venmo is a peer-to-peer payments service owned by PayPal Holdings Inc.
  • Car IQ Inc., a payments platform for truck fleets, announced it has signed the Huck’s Convenience Store chain of 128 locations in five states.
  • Social commerce company Fevo has added Zip Co.’s buy now, pay later payment option to its platform.
  • Financial services provider WisdomTree Inc. has launched its Prime Visa debit card, issued by Stride Bank NA.
  • Sound Payments released updates for its cash discounting program.
  • Synovus Bank appointed Jonathan O’Connor chief third-party payments officer and chief executive of the Synovus unit Maast, a provider of embedded-finance technology. O’Connor’s experience includes tenures at Trust Payments, First Data, and Elavon.
  • Green Dot Corp. named Melissa Douros chief product officer. Previously, she was vice president of digital experience at Discover Financial Services.
