- Payments provider NMI announced what it calls an “enhanced” integration with Shopify, the Canada-based e-commerce platform. The integration is meant to assure independent sales organizations and software providers that integrations comply with updated Shopify requirements.
- Chase Payment Solutions has brought its Tap to Pay on iPhone capability to Canada, with beauty retailer Sephora as the first client. The move follows Apple Inc.’s expansion of the technology to Canada last month. Sephora was Chase’s first U.S. Tap to Pay on iPhone client when it launched the service in the U.S. market in August last year. Chase Payment Solutions is part of J.P. Morgan Payments.
- ConnexPay introduced Intelligent Payouts, a platform that leverages artificial intelligence and machine learning to improve money transfers for such functions as cross-border payments, merchant payouts for card acceptance, and supplier payments.
- Payments platform FreedomPay launched Merchant Centric Acquiring, a service it says addresses “merchant pain points” by offering cost transparency, choice among processors, and a “fair play pledge.”
- Alleva, a provider of software for behavioral-health practices, launched Alleva Payments for the same client base. The new product comes out of a collaboration with Nexio, a provider of payments technology.
- While 85% of consumers say they have “positive experiences” with their primary financial institution, they are deploying as many services with other providers as they are with the primary FI, according to research from Galileo Financial Technologies, a unit of SoFi Technologies Inc., and Datos Insights. The research surveyed 2,500 U.S. consumers in the first quarter.
- Apple Inc.’s Vision Pro headset, which among other features includes the ability to make payments via Apple Pay that are authenticated by the user’s iris, will become available in the China Mainland, Hong Kong, Japan, and Singapore June 28 and in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, and the United Kingdom July 12, Apple said. The product launched in the U.S. market Feb. 2.
- Jim McKelvey has been appointed a board observer at Thread Bancorp Inc. and Thread Bank. McKelvey was a co-founder of Square Inc., known now as Block Inc., and has served as an independent director of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis.
