- Shift4 Payments Inc. announced it has acquired a majority interest in Germany-based point-of-sale provider Vectron Systems AG in a transaction previously reported by Digital Transactions News. Vectron serves roughly 65,000 merchant locations throughout Europe. Shift4 also said it has closed on its previously announced deal for Revel Systems, a point-of-sale technology company serving more than 18,000 merchant locations in and outside of the U.S. market.
- Alternative payment methods appear to be gaining ground among merchants with 68% of those surveyed in the American Express Co. “Amex Trendex: Digital Payments Edition” report currently accepting mobile payments, like Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay. Another 30% intend to adopt the payment method in the next year or are considering adopting it. The report surveyed 407 U.S. merchants between Oct. 26 and Nov. 6.
- E-commerce platform Bold Commerce announced new upsell and cross-sell capabilities for its Bold Subscriptions for Shopify Checkout service to help merchants convert more one-time purchases into subscriptions and increase average order value via upselling and cross selling.
- Transact Campus, whose technology processes mobile credentials and payments for colleges, announced a new enhancement called Data Connections that allows campuses to link the data they collect from the platform to business-intelligence software.
- A company called Grocery Dealz said it will launch in August a mobile app aimed at allowing consumers to compare grocery prices among a range of local stores and to apply digital coupons.
- Fintech Payzli made some executive changes by naming Arash Izadpanah its chief risk officer. He had been the chief executive. Naim Hamdar, formerly president of Payzli, moves to the chief revenue officer position. Payzli says it is searching for a new chief executive.
