Nuvei Readies UAE Expansion and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 6/25/24

  • The Canada-based processor Nuvei Corp. said it has received approval for a retail-services license from the central bank of the United Arab Emirates, laying the groundwork for an expansion into the UAE market.
  • Fast-food chain Long John Silver’s said it is working with multiple technology vendors to update its digital and in-store ordering experience at more than 300 corporate stores and participating franchisees.
  • Garmin International Inc. launched its Edge 1050, a device for cyclists that, among other features, includes Garmin Pay, the company’s contactless-payment capability.
  • Some 81% of U.S. consumers are dining out at least once a month, with 39% doing so once a week or more, according to international research from payments provider Lightspeed Commerce, which surveyed 3,000 respondents in Canada and the United States, as well as another 4,500 and overseas.
  • Payments-technology provider Finzly Inc. said it will work with Frost Bank to offer FedNow and Real Time Payments instant transfers to Frost’s business and consumer customers.
  • Gettrx, a developer of payments technology, announced it is supporting automated clearing house credit and debit transactions, adding to its support for Apple Pay, Google Pay, and card payments.
  • A Miami-based company called Bebuzee Inc. said it will launch Aug. 30 its Bebuzee super app in the United States and Europe. The app includes payments and e-commerce capabilities, among other features.
  • Arrow, a platform for health-care payments, announced it has launched with a $110-million Series A funding round secured in 2022.
  • Processing platform ACI Worldwide Inc. said it has launched an acquiring and issuing platform in Brazil in collaboration with the processor RS2.
  • Bluevine, a banking platform for small businesses, launched its Bluevine Business Cashback Mastercard, which offers users an uncapped 1.5% cash back on business purchases and no annual fee.
