Gift Cards To Comprise 48% of Holiday Gift Budgets and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 10/4/24

  • A report from prepaid card platform Blackhawk Network indicates consumers will spend $760 on holiday-season gifting this year, flat with 2023, though they say they will spend 48% of their holiday budget through gift cards, up from 39% last year. The company surveyed 2,000 U.S. consumers in July.
  • Pye, a hospitality point-of-sale technology firm, completed an integration with SkyTab, the restaurant POS service from Shift4 Payments Inc. SkyTab users will be able to use Pye’s technology for self-service setups.
  • Duck Creek Technologies Inc., an insurance industry provider, launched Duck Creek Payments Facilitator that enables insurance providers to collect payments or make payouts with multiple options, including real-time payments.
  • Publication circulation services provider Omeda will make Stripe Inc. payment processing available via its platform. The direct integration means Omeda clients no longer need external integrations with third-party payment providers, Omeda said.
  • Wex Inc., a payments platform for trucking fleets, launched 10-4 by Wex, a mobile app that lets drivers earn discounts while paying for fuel.
  • Transact Campus, a payments provider specializing in colleges and similar environments, announced a new executive team following its merger with Cbord, a unit of Roper Technologies. As part of the move, Nancy Langer has been appointed Transact’s chief executive. Roper acquired Transact in August in a deal valued at $1.5 billion.
