Eye on POS: Cake POS Taps PopMenu; Shopstr Lands in Shopify’s App Store

Just as acquirers always seek a competitive advantage when courting restaurant clients, so too do restaurateurs. The latest along these lines is an integration between Cake POS and Popmenu, a restaurant-services developer. Shopstr, a travel-booking service, also is now available as a Shopify app.

Mad Mobile Inc., the Tampa, Fla.-based maker of Cake POS, formed a partnership with Popmenu to bring that company’s services to its customers.

Atlanta-based Popmenu’s interactive menu is now available to Cake POS users, along with tools for creating a Google-optimized Web site and automated marketing services. The next phase, scheduled to be launched later this year, will introduce integrated online ordering with payments, making it easier for restaurants to manage their digital sales, Mad Mobile says.

“Our partnership with Cake provides an integrated approach to managing online and in-store operations—making it easy for restaurants to connect with guests and serve them efficiently, Tony Roy, Popmenu cofounder and chief operating officer, says in a statement.

In related news, Shopstr, a travel-booking platform, says it is now available as an app on Shopify Inc. Shopstr is owned by the Galiano Group, a New York-based firm.

Making Shopstr available on Shopify, which is known as a point-of-sale platform and e-commerce services provider, makes it easier for hosts to create customized booking Web sites, Shopstr says. “This approach not only simplifies the process of building a direct booking presence but also provides access to Shopify’s extensive marketing and analytical tools, significantly improving discoverability and overall business performance,” said Vinny Galiano, Shopstr chief executive, in a statement. Among the Shopstr tools for travel hosts are automated guest messaging, identity verification, and upselling tools.

Ottawa, Ontario-based Shopify says more than 8,000 apps are available in its app store.
