- Buy now, pay later specialist Affirm Holdings Inc. reported $866.4 million in revenue for its fiscal second quarter ending Dec. 31, up 46.4% from $591.1 million in the year prior quarter. With a profit of $80.4 million, Affirm reversed last year’s quarterly loss of $166.9 million. Among other metrics for the quarter, Affirm said it had $10.1 billion gross merchandise volume, up 35% from a year ago and its number of active users increased to 21 million, up 22.8% from 17 million. The number of transactions per active user of 5.3 was a 17.8% increase from 4.5 a year ago.
- Payments processing and technology provider i3 Verticals Inc. reported December-quarter revenue from continuing operations of $61.7 million, up 12.1% year-over-year. Net income from continuing operations totaled $3.3 million, while the year-ago result was a net loss of $4.2 million.
- Cantaloupe Inc., a processor for payments at vending machines and other unattended locations, reported December-quarter transactions totaled 299.8 million, up 4.6% year-over-year, while dollar volume grew 15.5% to $843.1 million. Active devices stood at 1.27 million, rising 3.5%. Revenue came to $73.7 million, up 12.8%, including transaction fees of $44.4 million, up 17.2%. Net income rose 59% to $4.97 million.
- Net sales through Amazon.com Inc.’s Amazon Web Services (AWS) unit totaled $28.8 billion in the December quarter, up 19% year-over-year, Amazon reported.
- Vantage Bank has moved to update its payment processing platform in an agreement to use Finzly Inc.’s payment hub.
- Coast 2 Coast Payroll & Payments announced an offer of more than 35 point-of-sale systems for cannabis merchants and other retailers in the U.S. and Puerto Rican markets.
- A healthcare fintech called Veuu said it will work with the Florida Medical Association to launch instant insurance payments for more than 25,000 doctors.
- Block Inc., parent of Square and Afterpay, named Anthony Eisen, cofounder of Afterpay and chief executive of Reshop, to its board of directors. He founded Afterpay in 2014 and Block acquired it in 2022. Reshop is a refunds platform for merchants.
- TSG, a research and analytics firm covering the payments industry, named Shelley Joyce chief technology officer. Most recently, Joyce was CTO of merchant-acquiring technology at Global Payments Inc.
