TMS Adds Its Groovv POS System to Its Free-Hardware Program for Merchants And ISOs

Independent sales organization Total Merchant Services Inc. has added its Groovv POS system to its free hardware program, a move that places all of its products in the program.

Prior to this week’s announcement, only point-of-sale terminals were part of the program, says Woodland Hills, Calif.-based TMS. This should make it easier for TMS resellers to serve more merchants, says Scott Blum, TMS vice president.

Groovv is a TMS-developed POS system that accepts EMV and near-field communication (NFC) payments and provides operational software in addition to payment-processing services.

“While free terminals can serve a large segment of the market, free POS systems are able to serve merchants who need to track inventory and/or are on a high growth trajectory,” Blum says in an email to Digital Transactions News.

Reseller compensation is similar to that with free terminals in the TMS program, Blum says. In addition to a $300 upfront fee, there is a bonus and a residual split, typically from 50% to 60%, when placing a Groovv POS Flex product, he says.

The residual split can increase to 70% if the sales agent doesn’t take the bonus and buys the terminal or POS system to provide to the merchant. With large merchants, the residual could be as much as 85% under some conditions, Blum says.

TMS says the length of the contract is tailored by the sales agent for each specific merchant. “No contract, no problem,” Blum says.
