- Mobile-payments specialist xPressTap Inc. launched its Tap2App product that enables merchants to accept contactless card payments wirelessly using a near-field communication-equipped mobile device.
- American Express Co. said it now provides an integrated service to MineralTree, an accounts-payable service, to ease business-to-business payments.
- Payments provider Integrity Payment Systems announced a partnership with Operation First Response, a nonprofit organization that provides emergency financial assistance to wounded and disabled veterans.
- E-commerce shopping cart provider 3dcart said Apple Pay is now available to its users as a payment option.
- Financial-institution processor Fiserv Inc. said its 2017 second-quarter payments revenue of $716 million is a 3.3% increase from $693 million a year ago. For the first six months of this year, its payments revenue of $1.43 billion is 5.3% greater than the $1.36 billion recorded in 2016. In the quarter, Fiserv announced it was buying Monitise plc.
- Financial-institution processor Fidelity National Information Services (FIS) reported net income of $140 million in the second quarter, a 12.9% increase from $124 million in the 2016 second quarter. FIS had revenue of $2.34 billion in the quarter, an 1.6% increase from $2.31 billion a year ago. Year-to-date net income of $284 million is 55.2% greater than the $182 million a year ago.
- The Accredited Standards Committee X9 Inc. updated the standard governing PINs used in point-of-sale and ATM transactions.
- Visa Inc. announced it supports the QR code payment specifications released by EMVCo.
- The CardLinx Association, which promotes online-to-offline commerce through card-linking, announced new members, including Capital One, JCB, Yahoo! Japan, and Dentsu. Card-linking is intended to connect digital advertising with in-store purchases.
- Fraud-prevention specialist Signifyd named Long-Ji Lin chief scientist. In his role, Lin, who most recently was at marketing firm Rocket Fuel, will focus on expanding the company’s machine-learning capabilities.
