First Data’s Clover Bluetooth Reader and other Digital Transactions News briefs

Bank of America Corp. said its debit card purchase volumes totaled $71 billion in the third quarter, up 2.5% from $69.3 billion a year earlier. U.S. credit card purchase volume increased 2% to $57.6 billion. BofA said it now has 21.3 million mobile-banking users, a 15.8% increase from 18.4 million in 2015’s third quarter.

Processor First Data Corp. introduced a Bluetooth-based payment card reader to its Clover point-of-sale line called Clover Go that can handle EMV chip and magnetic-stripe cards, and contactless near-field communication (NFC) transactions.
