Wirecard Inks Moonrise Deal and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 1/10/18

  • Payment-security provider Bluefin Payment Systems announced that Choice Entertainment Technologies will offer Bluefin’s point-to-point encryption service to users of its ChoiceCRM platform for performing-arts organizations.
  • Payments company Wirecard AG is providing services to Moonrise, a unit of American Family Insurance. Moonrise enables employers to pay shift workers using a Wirecard-issued payment card.
  • Visa Inc. said it is working with Miami-based NovoPayment, a provider of cloud-based disbursements and collection services, to facilitate business-to-business transactions in Latin America and the Caribbean.
  • Diebold Nixdorf Inc. said it will unveil two new software applications for merchants at the National Retail Federation’s annual conference next week in New York: Vynamic Engage, which facilitates targeted promotions and cross-channel marketing campaigns, and Vynamic Mobile Shopper, which provides self-scanning capabilities for retailers’ devices and consumers’ smart phones.
  • The stock of Eastman Kodak Co., the faded star of film photography, surged more than 50% Wednesday morning on news of the company’s launch with partner Wenn Digital of KodakCoin, a cryptocurrency for photographers to receive licensing payments for their work, and KodakOne, a digital ledger of rights ownership for photographers that uses blockchain technology.
  • The Money Services Business Association named Paul Dwyer, chief executive of Viamericas Corp., as its new board chairman, succeeding Alberto Laureano, CEO of Barri Financial Group LLC. The trade association of non-bank money-services firms also appointed two other officers and three board members.
