CardSavr Gets Voice Update and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 7/25/18

  • Switch Inc., whose CardSavr application programming interface allows cardholders to manage card-on-file transactions and updates, said it is merging its technology with voice technology to make it possible for consumers to inquire about and update payment data with merchants via voice command.
  • Custom Business Solutions Inc., a reseller of the POSitouch point-of-sale system, named Shift4 Payments as its preferred payment processor for its POSitouch portfolio.
  • MagTek Inc. announced it and DishOut, a specialist in payment and stored-value for campus and hospitality operators, are offering a white-label mobile-payment service.
  • Same-day automated clearing house payments totaled nearly 41 million in the second quarter, a 243% increase from the same quarter in 2017, NACHA reported. Same-day transactions now include both credits and debits, with same-day debits having been introduced in September. NACHA is the governing body for the ACH network.
  • Visa Inc.’s Visa Canada unit along with Air Canada, The Toronto-Dominion Bank, and Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce are proposing to buy the Aeroplan loyalty program from Aimia Inc. for C$2.25 billion ($1.72 billion), including C$250 million in cash and assumption of $2 billion in Aeroplan’s points liabilities.
  • Payments provider Euronet Worldwide Inc. said it processed 968 million total transactions in the second quarter, up 8% from 898 million a year earlier. Money-transfer transactions grew 18% to 26.9 million.
  • Visa and corporate-payments provider WEX Inc. said WEX clients now have the ability to use a Visa virtual credit card to enable global business-to-business payments.
  • China-based Ant Financial Services Group’s Alipay mobile-payment service announced an agreement with Pier 39, a tourist destination in San Francisco, to allow more than 40 merchants to accept Alipay from Chinese travelers. Point-of-sale terminals are managed by Citcon, a mobile-solutions provider.
  • Paysafe Group’s Skrill unit said its Skrill wallet now allows users to buy and sell Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, and Litecoin using any fiat currency stored in the wallet. The service is being introduced in more than 30 countries, not including the United States. The ability to transfer cryptocurrency to other users, or to buy from merchants, will be added later, the company said.
  • Rich Consulting and Double Diamond Group announced Dan Spalinger joined the payment-facilitator consulting team as a senior consultant. The two companies are brands owned by DoubleRich Inc.
