ControlScan said its SecureEdge platform now offers PCI Data Security Essentials, a service that enables payments providers to offer a more user-friendly alternative to the traditional PCI Self-Assessment Questionnaire to small businesses.
Square Inc. released two ways to accept card payments, one via a computer and another using the Lightning port on Apple Inc.’s iPhones and iPads. The Square Reader for magstripe can now be used with an Apple computer or Chromebook to accept payments via a virtual terminal in the Safari or Google Chrome browsers. The reader plugs into the computer’s audio jack. The Square Reader for magstripe also is now available with Apple’s proprietary Lightning connector. The reader also is available for regular audio jacks; both versions are $10 each.
Dunkin’ Donuts said its mobile-ordering and payment service is now available for its DDPerks Rewards loyalty-program members through Alexa, Amazon.com Inc.’s cloud-based voice service.

Some 20,000 Air Canada customers learned Wednesday that their personal information may have been compromised after a data breach in the airline’s mobile app, which prompted a lock-down on all 1.7 million accounts until their passwords could be changed, according to Toronto’s Globe and Mail.
