- Payments provider Electronic Merchant Systems announced its affiliation with the National Football League’s Cleveland Browns Proud Partner program.
- Paysafe Group said Philip McHugh will become its chief executive beginning June 24. He replaces Joel Leonoff, who will become vice chairman of the Paysafe board of directors. McHugh comes to Paysafe from Total System Services Inc. (TSYS), where he led the merchant-solutions division. McHugh also will join the board. TSYS is in the midst of being purchased by Global Payments Inc. for $21.5 billion in an all-stock deal.
- Sixty-five percent of consumers use e-commerce apps to receive offers and deals, found Clutch, a research, ratings, and reviews firm. Fifty-four percent use one to have purchasing flexibility.
- EVO Payments Inc. expanded its agreement with National Computer Corp., a developer of retail and restaurant point-of-sale software, to enable NCC’s reseller network access to the Canadian market.
- MagicCube Inc. said it is the first company to receive certification from EMVCo for its software-based trusted execution environment. One key application of the technology is for so-called PIN-on-glass transactions, in which PINs are entered on off-the-shelf mobile devices rather than dedicated hardware.
- Rambus Inc., a vendor of ticketing technology for transit, said it is teaming with semiconductor supplier Infineon Technologies AG to promote ticketing systems based on chip cards and mobile technology.
- Visa Inc. chief executive Al Kelly expressed skepticism about the value of real-time payments, cautioning that systems developed so far may not provide for chargebacks or other disputed transactions, according to a report by Bloomberg.
- The Retail Solutions Provider Association named Jim Roddy vice president of marketing. Roddy, a former RSPA board member and volunteer, previously worked at Worldpay Inc.
- Former Intuit Inc. executive Albert Ko has been appointed chief executive of Early Warning Services LLC, succeeding Paul Finch, who retired in March. Owned by some of the nation’s biggest banks, Early Warning runs the fast-growing Zelle peer-to-peer payments network.
- Mastercard Inc. named Sasha Krstic president of the network’s Canadian operations. Krstic began working for Mastercard in Toronto in 2004 and also has held several global assignments, most recently executive vice president of services in the Asia-Pacific region.
- Former Venmo chief operating officer Michael Vaughan joined growth-equity fund Oak HC/FT as an executive in residence. Venmo is a unit of PayPal Holdings Inc.
- Visa announced it is increasing its sponsorship of women’s soccer, including a five-year deal with the U.S. Soccer Federation that supports the U.S. Women’s National Team.
