First Data Corp. has begun to process MasterCard transactions at 123 Burger King Corp. outlets in Canada. The processing deal expands on one the Denver-based processor has for card processing at Burger Kings in the U.S. The card transactions at the Canadian Burger Kings are part of MasterCard's Quick Payment Service (QPS) program, in which payments under $25 can be processed without a signature to speed up tender time. Burger King is the largest merchant in Canada so far to adopt QPS. “First Data has the opportunity to significantly grow its presence in the Canadian quick service restaurant (QSR) market and extend delivery of convenient payment services across [Canada],” said Peter Harrington, president of First Data International, Latin America, and Canada, in a statement.
