Amadis Announces EMV Tool for Petroleum and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 6/24/20

  • Amadis, a payment software provider, announced an EMV migration product for petroleum and convenience stores. In conjunction with Advanced Mobile Payment Inc. and Texas Engineering Consulting Systems and Services, Amadis developed a proprietary Android-based contactless pay-at-the-pump product that decouples the fuel pump dispenser from the point-of-sale system, enabling payment authorization to take place at each pump.
  • With merchants starting to reopen, Visa Inc. launched Visa Small Business Hub, a collaboration with PayPal Holdings Inc., Shift4 Payments Inc., Shopify Inc., Visa-owned Authorize.net, and other providers with an aim to help small businesses create, run, and grow their stores.
  • Sezzle Inc., a provider of installment lending at the point of sale, announced it has become a public benefit corporation, committing the company to seek “general public benefit” as well as the maximization of profit. The service has 1.3 million users.
  • Consumers will work less in office buildings, drive their personal cars more, take public transit less, attend fewer events, and travel less for personal or business reasons over the next two years, according to a May survey of more than 2,000 users of the ParkMobile parking app, released Wednesday.
  • Sports betting, now legal in 23 states and the District of Columbia, will grow to 33.7 million users and $7 billion in legal revenue by 2025, according to a study by Heart+Mind Strategies and Horowitz Research.
  • Visa Inc. and Netherlands-based TerraPay, a global payments technology provider, said they will work together to develop real-time digital remittances, interoperability, financial inclusion, and adoption of cashless payments.
  • As consumers spend more time at home during the pandemic, payables-automation provider Tipalti said its technology is helping online-game companies manage accounts payable and payments to content creators.
  • The Women’s Network in Electronic Transactions (Wnet), a 15-year-old professional organization for women involved in the payments business, appointed Wendy Holliday as its first chief executive officer. Holliday comes to the group with more than 20 years of experience in management of non-profit organizations.
  • Cryptocurrency payments processor CoinPayments said it has appointed Hugo Janse van Rensburg chief financial officer. Van Rensburg comes to the company with experience at accounting firms BDO, PwC, and Ernst & Young.
