USAT Completes EMV Advance and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 10/26/20

  • USA Technologies Inc., a payments-technology provider for the vending-machine business, announced it has completed the introduction of EMV and contactless EMV acceptance capability for its ePort G10-Chip reader line. The enhancement process was launched in February.
  • The Western Union Co. said it now has added bank accounts, wallets, and cards to its roster of account-based payout options in more than 120 countries, up from 100 in April, and enabled real-time capability in 80 of these countries, up from 50.
  • Paramount Management Group said it acquired First Regents Banc Services and Equipment, an independent ATM deployer with more than 900 ATMs in 20 states. Terms were not disclosed.
  • Usio Inc. said it processed $852 million in volume in the third quarter, with strong growth in prepaid, followed by credit cards and automated clearing house transactions.
  • Chicago public transit commuters can use the Ventra card in the Apple Wallet app in the Express Transit Mode, which can enable fare payment without having to unlock the iPhone or Apple Watch and without authenticating via Face ID, Touch ID, or a passcode.
  • Gaming retailer Gamestop will offer Klarna’s buy now, pay later service online and in its more than 3,300 U.S. stores.
  • Choice Technology Solutions, which provides back-office automation for independent sales organizations, acquirers, and sales agent, said Merrick Bank will use Jarvis, Choice’s management platform.
  • Dutch payments provider TerraPay Payment Services B.V. announced it has received a money-services business license from FINTRAC, the Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada.
  • American Express Co. said Charles Phillip was elected to its board of directors. Phillips is cofounder and managing partner of Recognize, a technology investing company.
