Klarna Expands Rewards Program and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 2/22/22

  • Buy now, pay later specialist Klarna AB said it is expanding the geographic reach of its rewards program and its Pay Now service. The rewards program will be available in nine countries, with Pay Now expanding to nine new countries beyond the current base in the U.S. and U.K., where the immediate-payment service launched in 2021. Both programs are expected to be available in all Klarna markets later this year.
  • Klarna also announced its expansion into Canada with integrations with brands such as Harry Rosen, Mejuri, and Frank and Oak. Klarna also opened its first North American development in technology hub in Toronto with plans to hire more than 500 engineers by 2025.
  • Buy now, pay later provider Sezzle Inc. said its service is now available to WellNow Urgent Care health care locations in New York, Ohio, Illinois, Michigan, and Indiana.
  • Payments processor Worldline S.A. reported revenue of 3.69 billion euros ($4.2 billion) for 2021, up 6.8% from 2020, excluding the company’s Terminals, Solutions & Services (Ingenico) unit, which Worldline is negotiating to sell to investment banker Apollo Group.
  • Credit-reporting agency TransUnion has agreed to acquire Verisk Financial Services, the payments-analytics and consulting arm of Verisk Analytics Inc., for $515 million in cash.
  • Payments provider Paysafe Ltd. said it is working with casino-entertainment firm Bally’s Corp. to process player deposits for the Bally Bet online sportsbook in Arizona and for BallyCasino.com in New Jersey.
  • Payments provider Revere Payments, a unit of Metrics Global, said it has become the official payments processor for the Conservative Political Action Conference and the American Conservative Union.
  • U.S. Bank said it selected Microsoft Azure as its primary cloud provider for its applications.
  • Circle Internet Financial LLC named Nikhil Chandhok its chief product officer. He previously worked at Meta, formerly Facebook.
  • Payments provider Lightspeed Commerce Inc. appointed Crystal Caliguri executive vice president of customers. Caliguri came to Lightspeed in 2020 when the company acquired ShopKeep, a provider of tablet-based point-of-sale technology, for $440 million in cash and stock.
