Fiserv Adds Loyalty Option and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 5/9/22

  • Large retailers that use Fiserv Inc. payments-acceptance technology can add loyalty functions via a new agreement between Fiserv and loyalty-technology provider Exchange Solutions.
  • The global standards body EMVCo said it is developing an EMV Contactless Kernel Specification for contactless payment acceptance around the world. The new specification will take the place of the more than 20 contactless kernels now in use globally, the standards body says. A draft specification is now available for review, with release of the final rule expected later this year.
  • General merchandise unit sales in the United States took a hit in April as these sales fell 7% from April 2021, said The NPD Group. That resulted in a 1% drop in sales revenue.
  • Solodev Cloud Services launched its Serverless Incentives Portal, aimed at allowing stores to offer rewards and incentives, including gift cards and non-fungible tokens (NFTs), via cloud technology.
  • Total payment volume worldwide on Quick Response code technology will exceed $3 trillion by 2025, up from $2.4 trillion this year, according to Juniper Research.
  • Intellicheck Inc., an identity verification provider, named Jeffrey Ishmael its chief financial officer. Ishmael most recently was CFO at Raen Optics LLC.
