Elavon Launches a New POS Hardware Bundle Aimed at Small Businesses

In a bid to strengthen its hand with small businesses, Elavon, the Atlanta-based merchant-acquiring subsidiary of U.S. Bancorp, has launched talech Register, a payments and business analytics platform that, Elavon says, enables small business owners to manage their operations more efficiently.

Elavon is initially offering two bundled packages for restaurants and retail businesses. The bundles include the talech Register POS station, a receipt printer, barcode scanner, card reader, and cash drawer. The restaurant bundle includes an additional kitchen-receipt printer.

To make the hardware more attractive from a pricing standpoint, Elavon is offering a rental program. Merchants can rent a talech Register bundle for $40 a month. Merchants also have the option of purchasing hardware upfront.

“The talech platform really is about making it easier for small business owners to get the information they need to make better decisions, especially in a rapidly changing economy,” Elavon chief executive Jamie Walker says in a prepared statement. “Through talech Register, we want to tackle all the complex payments, banking, and operational needs that a small-business owner has, so they can get back to making the right choices for their business.”

U.S. Bank acquired 10-year-old talech in 2019 for an undisclosed sum. At the time of the acquisition, talech serviced more than 8,000 restaurants, retailers, and professional-services providers and processed more than $2.3 billion annually. All told, Elavon provides end-to-end payment processing solutions and services to more than 1.3 million merchants across the airline, hospitality, health care, retail, and public sector/education industries in the United States, Europe, and Canada.
