Wrapping Up a High-Growth Year, Revel Systems Digs Into POS Data To Offer Insights

Tablet point-of-sale terminal seller Revel Systems on Thursday unveiled its Insights by Revel service and noted a 137% growth rate in terminals for 2016.

Insights by Revel enables Revel merchant to monitor business activities as they happen. “Owners and managers can oversee labor remotely, and even detect who worked overtime, who missed a shift, and solve the problem immediately, managing overall cost,” said Chris Ciabarra, co-founder and chief technology officer of Revel Systems, in a press release.

The service also enables owners and managers to forecast demand by viewing trend reports on business operations, including net sales, payments, product mix, and labor. The reports can be filtered and displayed in a variety of ways to aid comprehension. Insights is available for iOS devices.

San Francisco-based Revel also released some performance figures for 2016. For the period from January 2016 to November, it experienced a 137% year-over-year growth rate in terminals. To date, Revel says more than 30,000 POS systems are in use by merchants. Revel also noted a 158% growth in revenue for the same period.

Among its notable wins in the past year is the addition of treat retailer Cinnabon as a client and an expansion of its deal with Intuit Inc. to offer a specialized version of the QuickBooks Point of Sale service to salons and grocery stores. In September, Revel announced Shell Retail, which counts more than 43,000 global fueling stations in its fold, will use its POS system at certain locations.
