• A 4-year-old startup called Five Elements Robotics has introduced a robotic shopping cart called Dash that allows customers to download a shopping list and then guides them through the store to find the items. The cart is also equipped with a scanner to let customers scan and pay for the items at the cart, which then follows the customer to her car for unloading and returns to its docking station inside the store.
• Sweden’s Seamless payments system, operator of the Seqr mobile-payments service, said Seqr will start processing mobile-gaming transactions as part of its effort to expand beyond physical stores. The first effort is with the Vera&John iGaming operator, which allows users to top up their accounts with Seqr, with payouts through Seqr coming in the near future. Around the world, more than 30 million contactless terminals now accept the app, which works with quick-response codes.
• Payment processor Vantiv Inc. completed its previously announced acquisition of Moneris Solutions Corp.’s U.S. merchant-acquiring unit from its Canadian bank owners for $429.6 million in cash.
• The videogame retailer GameStop is offering discounts through Jan. 1 on consoles, games, accessories, and collectibles to encourage recipients of GameStop gift cards to redeem the cards they received at Christmas.
