ACI Notes Cross-Border Milestone and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 6/18/24

  • U.S.-based payments provider ACI Worldwide Inc. said its partnership with Stet, a Paris-based clearing and settlement system, processed more than 50 million real-time cross-border payments in the past 12 months. The companies expect that volume to grow more than 50% in the current year.
  • Cross-border payments specialist Nium Pte. Ltd. said it is working with Air France and KLM to launch the Nium Airline Payments Solution, aimed at lowering the costs and speeding the settlement of card transactions for air carriers.
  • Buy now, pay later specialist Afterpay said the brands Curology, Helzberg Diamonds, Journeys, Rawlings Sporting Goods, and Zenni Optical are the latest to agree to accept the platform’s services at checkout. Afterpay is a unit of Block Inc.
  • A “Future of Money” study from Logica Research indicates 79% of U.S. Millennial consumers are using phones or other mobile devices to make in-person purchases, higher than for any other cohort. The study, conducted twice a year, canvasses 1,000 U.S. adults plus some 400 Gen Zers as young as 16.
  • Cart.com said it will provide merchant-of-record services and customer support for the portfolio of e-commerce brands managed by Authentic Brands Group.
  • Point-of-sale technology provider Epson America Inc. launched the OmniLink TM-H6000VI, which the company calls “the fastest multifunction hybrid POS receipt printer in the industry.” The new device is aimed at high-volume businesses.
  • Digital payments platform Ant International, a Singapore-based unit of the China-based payments giant Ant Group, launched a digital lending service called bettr, aimed at micro, small, and medium-size businesses.
  • Corpay, a Canada-based business-payments specialist, said it has opened an office in Auckland, New Zealand, to expand its cross-border business.
  • Nomadix Inc., which supplies Wi-Fi service for apartment buildings, launched a payments gateway to allow landlords to process tenant payments for the service.
  • MVB Financial Corp. named payments-industry veteran Jeremy Kuiper executive vice president and fintech president.
