- Block’s shares ended the day Thursday up 7.4%, to $43.98, on its reported strength in revenue and profits for its September quarter. Earnings per share for the latest quarter were 55 cents, against an analyst consensus of 47 cents, while revenue reached $5.62 billion against a consensus estimate of $5.44 billion.
- Visa Inc. launched its Visa Payments Learning Program, a set of training courses and certifications, with a starting concentration on cybersecurity.
- Mastercard Inc. announced an agreement with Live Nation, an organizer of concerts, to offer benefits to cardholders including access to presale tickets and premium seating. Live Nation’s units include Ticketmaster, Live Nation Concerts, and Live Nation Sponsorship.
- PayPal Holdings Inc. appointed Archie Deskus chief technology officer, effective immediately. She succeeds Sri Shivananda, who will be leaving the company at year’s end. Deskus, who has served as PayPal’s chief information officer since March 2022, came to PayPal from Intel and formerly held positions at Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Baker Hughes, and other firms.
