• Payments-services provider ACI Worldwide Inc. said it expects the rate of attempted online fraud in the United States during the holiday shopping season will increase 43% over the same period last year, based on transaction data it has seen so far. This increase follows U.S. adoption of EMV cards at the point of sale. The peak day for attempted online fraud will be Christmas Eve, the company predicts.
• In yet another possible hotel data breach, the Atlantis Paradise Island resort in the Bahamas said a recent incident “may have compromised” payment information for customers who used a credit or debit card at restaurants or retail locations at the resort between March 9 and Oct. 22. The resort says it has hired experts who “have corrected the issue.”
• Payment card manufacturer CPI Card Group Inc. said its Toronto unit has been tapped by the Ontario Lottery & Gaming Corp. to produce more than 2.4 million lottery gift cards, said to be one of the first such programs offered in North America.
• North American Payment Solutions announced it now offers American Express Co.’s Opt-Blue processing services to Canadian merchants.
• Payments-platform provider Base Commerce has selected the PCI Toolkit solution from Conformance Technologies to validate its merchants’ compliance with the Payment Card Industry data-security standard. The merchants will also have access to penetration-testing and PAN-scanning tools from Conformance.
• Teachers Credit Union, the largest credit union in Indiana, joined Co-Op ATM, the surcharge-free ATM network of credit-union service organization Co-Op Financial Services.
• Carrier-billing specialist Boku said it formed a partnership with Mansion, a U.K.-based entertainment and gaming company, that enables Mansion customers to make deposits to their mobile casino accounts using Boku.
