- Reuters is reporting that Apple Inc. is talking to Barclays to become the iPhone maker’s new partner for credit cards, replacing Goldman Sachs. Other financial institutions are said to be candidates as well, including Synchrony. Apple and Goldman launched the Apple card in 2019, but since then Goldman has indicated it will move away from consumer credit.
- Synchrony Financial will issue the CareCredit credit card for Pet Paradise, a pet-care provider. The card is expected to be available by year’s end for use at all 60 Pet Paradise locations across the country.
- Restaurant POS provider Olo will integrate Grubhub, the ordering and delivery app for food, in its Olo Dispatch service, used by restaurants to outsource food delivery.
- Some 77% of shoppers prefer to use self-checkout in stores because it’s faster than relying on store staff, according to NCR Voyix Corp.’s 2025 Commerce Experience Report.
- Nuvei Corp. said its processing capabilities will be integrated into a travel-payments platform from Outpayce from Amadeus.
- Hong Kong-based PhotonPay said it will support Mastercard users of Google Pay to enable contactless payments and digital card storage.
- Remittance platform Boss Money has added three destination countries—Venezuela, Brazil, and Eritrea. It has also added debit cards as a means to fund transfers, a service it said will be available at all U.S. locations “in coming months.” Overall, the service sends transfers to countries in Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa, and South Asia.
- Paystand Inc., a payments platform that includes digital-currency options, opened its new headquarters in Santa Cruz, Calif., returning to the city where it was founded 12 years ago.
- Courtney Kelso has joined U.S. Bancorp as a senior vice president and head of payments for consumers and small businesses. Kelso comes to the bank after 17 years at American Express Co.
