- ZipfWorks Inc., owner of online coupon code site Dealspotr.com, released the results of a mobile-payments survey that found that 15% of consumers between 18 and 35 years old used Apple Pay while shopping online. Ten percent of this age group used Apple Pay in a store. It also found that 3% of those 18 to 35 year olds have used Apple Pay Cash.
- Mobile-payments provider LevelUp has expanded a partnership with Zuppler, a vendor of order-fulfillment technology, to increase mobile order-ahead transactions for client restaurants. As part of the agreement, LevelUp says it will feature more than 5,000 of Zuppler’s client restaurants in its native app as well as through its integration with third-party apps like Chase Pay.
- PayPal Holdings Inc. settled allegations from the Federal Trade Commission about allegedly overstating the security protections provided by its Venmo person-to-person payments services. PayPal won’t pay any fines, but must update its language in the Venmo app and submit to compliance checks.
- RevSpring Inc., developer of a health-care management software, said it now offers payments services from Elavon Inc.
- Payments provider BillingTree said its services are now integrated in the TOPS [One] property-management software from TOPS Software LLC.
- Voice commerce transaction volume is forecasted to increase to $40 billion by 2022, up from $2 billion today, OC&C Strategy Consultants announced.
- The European petroleum marketer Total has launched a digital wallet that lets customers pay at the pump with their Total card or bank card. Later, it will include Apple Pay and other third-party wallets, the company said. The company developed the wallet with Worldline, a transactions-services company.
- Total System Services Inc. (TSYS) announced it has extended “for multiple years” a card-processing agreement with Capital One (Europe) PLC’s United Kingdom portfolio. The agreement comes after a similar extension in December of an agreement with Capital One Financial in North America.
- Mastercard Inc. said it will pilot a Mastercard QR bot on Facebook Messenger in Nigeria to help businesses accept digital payments based on quick-response codes. The move is part of a broader initiative by Mastercard to push acceptance of digital payments in Africa and Asia.
- Payments processor Computer Services Inc. named Andras Bende chief financial officer to succeed David Simon, who will retire in June. Bende, who will assume his duties March 19, comes to CSI from GE Capital.
