Apple Reverses Epic Decision and Other Digital Transactions News briefs from 3/11/24

  • Apple Inc. on Friday reversed course on Epic Games, saying it would allow the online game developer to build its own app store in Europe for Apple devices. The reversal came as the European Union’s Digital Markets Act took effect last week. In the U.S. market. Apple several years ago permitted Epic to process transactions outside of Apple’s payments system following a verdict in a court case brought by Epic against the iPhone maker.
  • Financial software and marketplaces provider Finastra said Jefferson Bank will use its Finastra Payments To Go service to enable instant payments services, including FedNow and RTP.
  • Fintech iWallet, developer of a payment app for home service businesses, completed an integration of PayPal and Venmo digital wallets.
  • AppTech Payments Corp. said it has agreed to provide its FinZeo payments platform to a network of more than 2,000 credit union locations. The integration is planned to start this month, with a second-quarter completion goal.
  • Payments platform PaytoMe.co announced an integration with open-banking specialist Plaid Inc.
  • Fingerprint Cards AB announced it has rolled out a biometric payment card in Turkey, working with card-technology provider Thales. The move represents the 11th such rollout globally for the two companies.
  • ACI Worldwide Inc. said it will work with comforte AG, a security services provider, to help merchants comply with the PCI DSS 4.0 standard.
  • OrboGraph LLC, a check fraud detection and imaging provider, released its OrboAnywhere Sherlock 5.3 update to improve its check fraud detection capabilities.
  • Switzerland-based Unicorn Group said it is now a Mastercard Inc. principal member.
  • Mastercard appointed Jon Huntsman Jr. vice chairman and president of strategic growth. Huntsman, a former ambassador and governor, has held various executive positions at several corporations.
