• Venmo, the peer-to-peer payment service from PayPal Holdings Inc., said all Venmo users now can use the service to make in-app purchases at participating merchants. Announced earlier this year, the in-app payment is available with 11 merchants.
• Wireless transaction gateway Apriva said it has completed EMV certification for smart terminals from Ingenico Group on First Data Corp.’s Omaha platform.
• A startup called iYap introduced its Liquid Cash product, which it said allows users to “pay and send money to anyone anywhere around the world” using so-called Liquid Cash codes and without the need for a card, bank account, phone number, or email address.
• Discover Financial Services said its Discover network has processed the first U.S. transaction for Elo, a card brand issued by a group of Brazilian banks. Elo Global Cards are intended for international purchases and cash access outside of Brazil.
• Processor Payment Data Systems Inc. expanded its automated clearing house service network by adding a fourth originating depository financial institution partner.
• Mobile-payment technology provider Net Element Inc. said its PayOnline subsidiary introduced a new payment interface to improve the user experience.
• Prepaid card provider Blackhawk Network Holdings Inc. launched its first e-commerce Web site for purchasing gift cards in Canada.
• VeriFone Systems Inc.’s European operation said U.K. merchants using its point-of-sale devices and managed services have helped raise £1 million ($1.3 million) in charitable contributions at the point of sale through the Pennies application, which works by letting shoppers donate by rounding up transactions when paying by card.
