Bank Adds Mobile Card Control Feature and other Digital Transactions News briefs

E-commerce marketplace Rakuten.com will allow merchants outside the United States to sell to U.S. customers and collect payments in their local currency through a new arrangement with processor Payoneer.

First National Bank of Pennsylvania added a feature called CardGuard to its mobile-banking app that lets users turn their debit cards “on” and “off” and set location parameters that disallow transactions outside of certain geographic limits.

Epson America Inc. announced an agreement with Left on Yellow, whose technology lets merchants more easily integrate point-of-sale technology with existing systems, by which retailers will be able establish a direct integration to their POS systems from Epson’s OmniLink Merchant Services receipt-printer platform.

Working with Fidelity National Information Services Inc. (FIS) and Comdata Inc., Corcentric has launched a product that automates corporate accounts-payable processing and transactions through cards, checks, and the automated clearing house.

A research report from Intelling predicts so-called invisible payments, or digital payments processed nearly entirely without user involvement, will account for more than 25% of all electronic transactions by 2021, with retail sales using the technology rising at a compounded annual growth rate of 54% between 2016 and 2021.

Barry Mosteller, director of engineering and quality at payment card manufacturer CPI Card Group Inc., has been appointed vice president of the board of directors of the International Card Manufacturers Association (ICMA). Mosteller has served on ICMA’s board for five years.
