Bitcoin Depot Launches Cash-Loading Crypto App and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 7/1/22

  • Bitcoin Depot, a Bitcoin ATM operator, launched BDCheckout, an app that lets users in North America load cash to their Bitcoin Depot digital wallets, which can then be used to buy Bitcoin. Bitcoin Depot is working with InComm Payments’ VanillaDirect barcode platform to offer the service.
  • The big French processor Worldline S.A. said it has closed on its acquisition of Eurobank Merchant Acquiring, a processor based in Greece. Terms were not announced.
  • Holds on using a credit or debit card at the gas pump have increased to $175, a costly reflection of the higher gas prices consumers are paying, The Wall Street Journal reported, as cited by Fox43 TV station. The pre-authorization caps had been $125.
  • PayByPhone, a parking-payments app provider, has appointed Jonny Combe global chief executive, succeeding Andy Gruber, who is assuming a senior management position with Volkswagen Financial Services AG, PayByPhone’s parent company. Combe will assume his new duties Aug. 1.
