- Block Inc., the parent of Square and Cash App, launched Bitkey, a self-custody Bitcoin wallet, in nearly 100 countries around the world. Block is taking pre-orders for the wallet, which consists of a mobile app, a hardware device, and a set of recovery tools, at $150 each.
- Crypto technology provider Onez launched its White Label Crypto Wallet, intended for businesses seeking to offer a branded wallet for digital currencies.
- AuthVia, a provider of payments via text-to-pay and conversational commerce, said it is working with cloud-communications platform Infobip to develop payments services for messaging platforms like WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger.
- Cybersecurity firm Trustmi launched Trustmi Certify, which uses artificial intelligence to help verify recipient bank accounts in cases of business-payment transfers.
- Shares of PayPal Holdings Inc. closed down 1.8% Thursday, to $58.48, following the news that Amazon.com Inc. would stop accepting PayPal’s Venmo wallet Jan. 10. Amazon shares were up 1.6%, to $146.88. For the year, Amazon is up 71%, while PayPal is down 22%.
- Correction: Navy Federal Credit Union reported it took in more than $2.7 million in real-time deposits on its first full day of real-time payments service on The Clearing House Payments Co.’s Real Time Payments (RTP). Digital Transactions News reported the total incorrectly on Tuesday and regrets the error.
