• International Business Machines Corp. reportedly is in early talks to acquire iPad-based point-of-sale technology provider Revel Systems Inc., according to Bloomberg.
• Investment firm Battery Ventures said it reached an agreement to acquire Bluepoint Solutions Inc., a privately-owned image-capture and document-management firm, and will merge it with Alogent, a deposit-automation company that Battery Ventures acquired in June from processor Jack Henry & Associates Inc. The combined firm will be headed by Alogent CEO Dede Wakefield; terms of the deal were not disclosed.
• WISeKey International Holding Ltd., a Swiss cybersecurity firm, agreed to acquire the semiconductor technology and business of INSIDE Secure, which specializes in mobile devices, in a deal expected to close in September. WISeKey announced a partnership with MasterCard Inc. earlier this year.
• NACHA released its “Same Day ACH for Businesses Essentials Guide” that provides use cases and information about the automated clearing house governing body’s same-day ACH initiative, which takes effect Sept. 23.
• The Western Union Co. announced it has extended an agreement with Metro Inc., a supermarket chain in Quebec and Ontario, to offer money transfers and bill payments at more than 360 stores.
• CellPoint Mobile, a payments provider for airlines, introduced its Velocity service, which enables carriers to quickly deploy popular mobile-payment services, apps, and alternative payment methods.
