Chenault Joins Another Board and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 1-30-18

  • UATP, which is owned by and provides payment processing for many of the world’s airlines, said it is now accepted for U.S. ticket purchases on Expedia, Orbitz, and Travelocity.
  • General Catalyst announced that soon-to-retire American Express Co. chief executive Ken Chenault has joined the venture-capital firm as chairman and a managing director. Chenault also recently joined the boards of Facebook and Airbnb.
  • Sabre Hospitality Solutions, a third-party reservations processor for hotel chains, informed Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts in December that an unauthorized party in October had been able to view unencrypted card and reservation data, the hotel chain said. The unauthorized access was “brief,” according to the Four Seasons announcement.
  • Payfare, which provides mobile-banking and micro-lending solutions for gig-economy workers, has agreed to use a payments-processing platform from i2c Inc. to allow ride-sharing companies to pay drivers through a prepaid Mastercard. The service is set to start during the first quarter.
  • Processor Paysafe Merchant Services Corp. has hired an attorney with the Paul Hastings law firm to lobby the federal government on cannabis issues.
  • Payrailz, which supports digital bill-payment and money-transfer services for financial institutions, named Frank Chan security and compliance officer. A former bank IT examiner, Chan comes to Payrailz from D+H.
  • Hospitality-software vendor Agilysys Inc. announced availability of its Lodging Management System version 7.3.6, which it says includes enhanced guest-payment options.
  • MoneyOnMobile Inc., a Dallas-based company that provides mobile payments in India, said it closed a Series F funding round raising $7.6 million.
