- Digital-currency payments specialist Circle Internet Financial LLC announced it has agreed to new terms with Concord Acquisition Corp., terminating an agreement it had reached with that company in July. The new agreement values Circle at $9 billion, twice the valuation set by the original SPAC combination. The holding company established by the original agreement will acquire both Circle and Concord and become a publicly traded company on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol CRCL.
- Bank of America Corp. said it has 16 million active Zelle users, including small businesses, as of January. These users sent more Zelle peer-to-peer transactions than physical checks written in 2021, 514 million compared to 453 million, respectively.
- Block Inc.’s Square unit announced developers can now integrate Block’s Afterpay buy now, pay later service into their online checkout flows using the Square Web Payments software developer kit.
- Elevate, a platform for benefits distribution, said it has adopted Visa Inc’s Visa Direct real-time service for health-care reimbursements to employees of client firms.
- In related news, Mastercard Inc. announced the first 16 technology partners to join its Mastercard Send Partner Program, which aims to help banks, fintechs, and system integrators adopt and use Send, a real-time push-payments network.
- BetWildwood, the online sportsbook for Wildwood Casino, has adopted Paysafe’s new Skrill digital wallet, an upgrade from the sportsbook’s existing Skrill wallet. The wallet handles deposits and payouts for casino players.
- Payments provider Aliaswire said it has integrated Mastercard’s Bill Pay Exchange platform into its DirectBiller service, enhancing service for consumers who prefer to pay their bills via their banks’ service or through a bill-pay aggregator.
- Payments-technology provider SpotOn Transact LLC said it has been named a preferred technology partner by the Michigan Restaurant & Lodging Association.
