Claims Process Begins in Interchange Lawsuit And Other Digital Transactions News briefs from 12/1/23

  • The claims process begins today for merchants to file for a share of the $5.54-billion settlement of a massive lawsuit originally filed more than a decade ago that alleged that Visa, Mastercard, and banks had violated antitrust laws in setting fees for card acceptance. The number of merchants involved is expected to number in the millions.
  • Payments provider Nayax Ltd. closed on a $36.5-million acquisition of point-of-sale software provider Retail Pro International LLC, which serves more than 9,000 merchants in more than 100 countries. Nayax paid $20 million upfront, with the remainder to be paid over three years, subject to earnout targets being met.
  • Payments processor Adyen NV will process for S Group, a European operator of more than 1,900 retail locations accounting for more than 500 million transactions annually in-store and online.
  • Technology companies NowCerts and Input 1 unveiled a digital-payments offering for insurance agencies using NowCerts’ management system.
