Digital River Releases Subscription Payments Paper and other Digital Transactions News briefs

E-commerce services provider Digital River Inc. released a white paper, “The Subscriptions Generation,” which offers guidance for e-commerce decision-makers and product marketers considering online subscription-based business models.

The Western Union Co. announced it is offering free money transfers from agent locations in most countries to more than 450 agent locations in earthquake-affected areas in Italy. Senders must indicate the transfer is intended for loved ones affected by the quake. The offer is effective until Sept. 9.

Mercator Advisory Group Inc. released a research note called “Can Coalition Loyalty Programs Succeed in the United States” that addresses Plenti, a coalition loyalty program that spans several retailers and is operated by American Express Co. Consumers earn points when making purchases at participating retailers.

Visa Inc. opened a campus for its Visa University at its Asia-Pacific headquarters in Singapore. Visa University is a training program for Visa employees.
