Elavon Debuts a Single Gateway Platform

With merchants demanding simpler yet more encompassing payment gateway capabilities, acquirer Elavon launched its Elavon Payment Gateway, starting first with small and mid-size businesses.

The new Elavon gateway, announced Thursday, takes a cloud-based, omnichannel approach, offering “features and functionality from existing gateways,” Pari Sawant, Elavon’s chief product officer, tells Digital Transactions News via email. It “will be a primary development for our functionality going forward,” she adds.

Among its features are omnichannel payment acceptance, including integrations with digital wallets like Paze, Apple Pay, Google Pay and regional payment methods. It also relies on API code to ease developer integrations, works with multiple e-commerce platforms, and offers a pay-by-link function.

Other features include dynamic currency conversion, surcharging, recurring payments, 3D Secure, and real-time fraud scoring that incorporates artificial-intelligence input.

Available now in the U.S. market, the Elavon Payment Gateway is targeting small and mid-size businesses initially, with plans to expand its availability to other segments through 2025.

“Our focus to date has been in the small-business space, however we are now actively expanding the target client segments as we develop the platform further. We have a 2025 roadmap for expanding the platform,” Sawant says.

Sawant says the gateway for now is available through multiple sales channels that serve small businesses. Pricing for the gateway and its services varies based on the merchant’s implementation, he says
