EMS Acquires Peel Payments and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 4/17/25

  • Electronic Merchant Systems LLC said it acquired Peel Payments, marking a significant expansion into the petroleum and convenience store segment. Peel also brings familiarity with Fiserv Inc.’s platform, says Afshin Yazdian, EMS chairman and chief executive, “which aligns perfectly as we prepare to launch on that platform and integrate with Clover. This will accelerate our go-to-market strategy and strengthen our operational readiness.”
  • The Federal Reserve said its FedNow real-time payments services has more than 1,300 participating financial institutions. In the first quarter more than 1.3 million transactions were settled on FedNow, a 43% increase year-over-year with a daily volume average of $540 million. FedNow launched in 2023.
  • Payments provider BlueSnap Inc. said it is a payment partner for Shopware, an open-source e-commerce platform.
  • MoneyGram International Inc. said its U.S. customers now use Plaid Inc.’s technology to help authenticate their bank accounts.
  • Payments provider Fortis added new capabilities for users of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, a business management software program.
  • Capital One Software, the enterprise business-to-business software unit of Capital One, announced its Capital One Databolt, a tokenization service for sensitive data. Early Warning Services LLC has been an early user of the service.
  • Identity platform Trulioo said PingPong Payments will use its Business Verification and Watchlist Screen products to minimize manual onboarding and improve compliance efforts.
  • Payment software company Payway updated its RESTful API code with PCI DSS 4.0 validation with advanced multifactor authentication, a direct automated clearing house API integration with Wells Fargo, and more support for Canadian transactions via a Global Payments platform.
  • Card Depot, an online store for discounted gift cards, said it is using a proprietary artificial intelligence tool to counter fraud that is tailored to gift card transactions. It also added an integration with processor Stripe and now supports Apple Pay, Google Wallet, Amazon Pay, Cash App Pay, and select cryptocurrencies.
  • Biometric identity verification provider authID Inc. joined the Secure Technology Association.
