EVO’s U.K. Discover Expansion and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 12/19/19

  • EVO Payments has agreed to enable merchants it serves in the United Kingdom and Ireland to process transactions on the Discover, Diners Club International, and affiliate card networks. Merchants served by EVO in other markets are expected to come online for Discover in 2020.
  • Antivirus protection provider Avast said a survey it commissioned found that 24% of respondents had been phishing victims and 22% weren’t sure if they had. Most victims—59%—said they were victims of email phishing, followed by phishing Web sites, 45%, telephone phishing, 29%, and SMS phishing, 26%.
  • ATM manufacturer Hyosung Americas announced its new line of cash-recycling bank ATMs called the MX8300, which has three models.
  • Amit K. Singh, formerly head of technology for real-time payments at Visa Inc., has been appointed practice head for financial services, fintech, and payments at Altimetrik Corp., a consulting firm.
  • Payments provider Electronic Payments said it will hold its Impact 2020 conference for independent sales organizations and other third-party sellers Sept. 22-25 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
