Eye on Acquiring: FreedomPay Marks Moneris Integration; MagTek Readers Are Top Picks

FreedomPay Inc. said its payments services will soon be available to Canadian merchants serviced by Moneris Solutions Corp. Moneris expects the FreedomPay integration to be available mid-year.

Toronto-based Moneris, one of the largest processors in Canada based on transaction volume, says the integration will give merchants more tools and choices. Philadelphia-based FreedomPay says its Next Level Commerce Platform enables merchants to unify their commerce across properties, channels, and regions. It provides payments, identity tools, loyalty, and business-intelligence data.

“The integration with FreedomPay gives our customers more choice and options when it comes to selecting the best unified commerce solution for their business backed by Moneris’ payment infrastructure,” Moneris says in an email to Digital Transactions News. Moneris counts more than 300,000 merchant locations in Canada in its portfolio.

In other news, MagTek Inc., maker of secure payment technology said MobileDemand, which provides rugged tablets and mobile computing products, integrated MagTek’s iDynamo 6 secure card reader authenticator with its Microsoft Surface xCase for Retail.

“In recent years it became clear that there needs to be an option for point-of-sale solutions to be mobile and not fixed to a countertop,” Scott Medford, MobileDemand vice president of sales, says in a statement. Its previous good experience with another MagTek device made this integration easier, he says.

Xpress-pay, a digital bill payment provider, separately integrated the MagTek tDynamo secure card reader authenticator, with its payment service.

“While formerly offering desktop and mobile payments, the tDynamo now allows our clients to accept payments from anywhere the Internet is available. With this convenient handheld device, customers can also pay with the mobile device via NFC, bringing Google Pay, Apple Pay, and Samsung Pay into play as well,” Thomas Buttino, Xpress-pay director of marketing, says in a statement.
