Eye On Acquiring: Lightspeed Tees off, While Nuvei Gains Altitude

Lightspeed Commerce Inc. has partnered with golf-course management company GreatLIFE Golf & Fitness to provide point-of-sale technology for GreatLIFE’s GolfBack direct-booking engine.

Lightspeed will begin deploying its POS technology at 14 golf courses operated by GreatLIFE in the Kansas City, Mo.-area, with plans to expand the technology to additional GreatLIFE-operated courses in the future.

GreatLIFE operates 56 golf courses in the United States. Golf courses using GreatLIFE’s GolfBack booking engine typically see a 128% increase in monthly Website bookings during the first year of use, according to Lightspeed’s site.

GreatLIFE says it partnered with Montreal-based Lightspeed because of the company’s cloud-based, open API platform. The company says it was also looking for onboarding support, account management, and product-adoption specialist teams.

“Our two organizations share a commitment to providing flexible, innovative solutions to the golf industry that empower owners and operators,” David Hope, general manager for Lightspeed Golf, says in a statement. “It’s through this commitment that we saw a natural alignment. With this partnership in place, it marks a step forward in our shared vision for accessible, technology-driven golf experiences.”

In related POS news, Nuvei Corp. has partnered with Euroairlines to launch a so-called B2B2C portal that will enable customers of the Spain-based airline to search for flights and purchase tickets. Payment options through the portal include Visa, Mastercard, ApplePay, and GooglePay. Plans are in the works to expand acceptance to include American Express cards. The new portal is expected to bolster Euroairlines’ business in the United States, Europe, and Latin America, Nuvei says.

Montreal-based Nuvei will process all transactions made through the portal, working with UATP Corp., a provider of payments technology to airlines and the broader travel industry.
Founded in 2000, Euroairlines serves more than 200 destinations and provides cargo and passenger services in Europe and northern Africa.

“We are excited to partner with Euroairlines to support the launch of their direct channel and process transactions from their indirect channel,” Nuvei chairman and chief executive Philip Fayer said in a statement. “Our collaboration is a step forward in optimizing their payment strategy and fueling Euroairlines’ ambitious growth plans.”
